Quote: Your own family is .....such a treasured possession. Such a treasure in your life, but what we miss though, it's not your treasure. Whose treasure is it? Your family is God's treasure and he has entrusted each of us with it. That's why we profess to our children the Gospel and we ask today that you sponsors would make sure that this child has heard the Word of God and put the scripture in his hands.

If You Say Go
Vinyard Music

If you say go, we will go
If you say wait, we will wait
If you say step out on the water
And they say it can't be done
We'll fix our eyes on You and we will come

Your ways are higher than our ways
And the plans that you have laid
Are good and true
If You call us to the fire
You will not withdraw Your hand
We'll gaze into the flames and look for You

Quotes:

After reading (this text) this week, I like to look at it towards this church--this text and how this church Hanover keeps pressing on daily -- keeps pressing on daily in the love of Christ Jesus, and through His strength, this church cannot fail in adversity. Paul is specific here. He says that we must do something. We must forget the past--those things that hinder us.....

We have had a lot of talk about justification this week. That is what God has done for each of us. Justification is God's saving grace through Christ dieing on the cross, those are is his actions, but the flip side of the coin is the idea of sanctification, and sanctification is that strength that God gives us to press on .....

I went over to a friends house the last couple of weeks and wanted to go fishing his his pond. I said, "hey, I want to go fishing in there" and he said "no, you can't go fishing there." I said "why not," and he said, "my pond is turned over." I said, "really, it's turned over, what does that mean." He said, "When it is turned over, everything is dead." So I started thinking, what does this mean to be turned over and to be dead? So I called the Conservation Department and they told me that when a pond is no longer flowing and it is no longer moving, it dies. That spoke to me so deeply as that is the church; that is our faith, that if the church become stagnant and there is no change, it ends up dieing, because we are just like the Word of God. The Word of God is flowing. He speaks to us that we must continue to flow, continue to be trimmed, continue to change, and we grow in Christ in that way.

Those are not my words, those come right out of the Book of John that says, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

Do you know what the first race is in the Olympics? It finishes with just one person. The idea of the first race in the Olympics isn't to see who comes in first, for it is the man carrying that torch. The idea isn't that he is coming in first. The idea of the Olympics, the beginning starts with he is the one that arrives with the torch. That speaks so deeply in our lives. That torch is His Word and us remaining in Him and He strengthens us. He is the one who empowers us. He is the one who gives us the strength to press on daily.......

Our text is Philippians 2:1-11

Dear friends and family,

My time here is running short. The 27th is coming too quickly. For those of you that are looking ahead we are going to be focusing on Paul's letter to the Philippians

This week our text is Philippians 2:1-11 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
